“No”-oriented Question

We are often faced with situations where the other party is not responding, either in business and personal settings. Examples could include from hearing back for next steps after an interview or a business prospect ignoring your emails.
This gets annoying quickly, as we start questioning our communication ability and become anxious. One quick trick I have found after reading the book “Never Split the Difference” is to send a short email as below:

“Have you given up on this project?”

This “No”-oriented question that suggests that you are ready to walk away, works wonders.

You can make minor changes to the email or message to accommodate different setting.

Population in 2100

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/world-population-2100-country/

Interesting information, visualized in above article shows China’s population shrinking almost 50% by 2100 and also for many other countries.

This recent research from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), published in The Lancet, suggests that the population on this planet may actually start to shrink well before the year 2100.

🤞🏼 Some good news for the planet earth.. 🤞🏼

Location and Time

Location has energy, Time has memory. You can create energy in your home through changing the sites, scents and sounds in a space. If you are working from home and find it challenging to focus for an extended period of time, it can be largely attributed to the setting of your work place. Meaning you are using the same space for watching Netflix, taking a quick nap and your focused activities.

Try creating activity specific sub-spaces in your house/apartment and observe the changes. For example, you can have a small corner of the room for meditation, a well lit work table or desk for focused activities etc..

Update: Virtual Movie Club

Weekly virtual movie club has become an instant success and a helpful tool for me to connect and socialize in this perceived social distancing era. I have been enjoying the weekly discussions and movies recommendations for last few weeks.

Some of the movies recommended were as follows:

I would not have watched most of the movies from above list myself as Netflix/Amazon/Others would never have been able to recommend these to me based on my viewing history.

Another major benefit of having these movie club discussions is that people talk about something unrelated to current situation as opposed to “How is the lock-down in your area” .

I hope to continue this trend of virtual weekly club after life goes back to normal and we pretend to become busier.

Cheers!

Bliss Molecule “Anandamide”

The word “anandamide” originates from the sanskrit “ananda,” which roughly translates to “bliss” or “joy,” an indication of the cannabinoid’s properties as a mood enhancer. Also called N-arachidonoylethanolamine (AEA), anandamide interacts with the body’s CB receptors similarly to cannabinoids like THC. It’s a neurotransmitter and cannabinoid-receptor binding agent that functions as a signal messenger for CB receptors located in the body.

Thought of the Day

If you don’t want to be poor then you would never be poor. This is a dialogue from Johnny Depp starer movie “Blow” that frequently comes to my mind when I think about money.

I probably watched this movie a decade ago and haven’t rewatched it, but the essence of the dialogue has stayed.

In the movie scene, a boy tells his father that “he doesn’t want to be poor” and the dad responds with above dialogue.

When people talk or complain about being broke, not having enough money , being poor etc. The main reason is that they never thought or wanted to be rich.

You can do a simple experiment, ask 10 of your friends/family member about what do they want monetarily in their life and you would be surprised..

Visiting Human

We are all visitors on earth and being a guest, we should be mindful about behavior that impacts the host (mother earth).

Most people act as if they are immortal and are going to live forever. They waste their precious time on earth on mundane things.

We should know that our time here is limited on earth and act accordingly to enhance life experiences and live an exuberant life.

Being Bored

Many people are feeling bored at home due to being stuck in their houses due to COVID-19 or otherwise. Please know that if you are an adult, being bored is on you. I hope you would find a challenge to work on instead of doing nothing.

You would have to take on the challenge, take the leap and take some responsibility to find something that might not work. This may include learning new languages, developing cooking skills, preparing for career changes, developing work routine etc..

I’m glad that you are feeling bored and now excited to see what you are going to do about it.

Cheers!

Only Person on Planet

True wants in life

“What would you want in life if you were the only person on this planet”. This could be a very powerful way of thinking about priorities in life instead of chasing materialistic (cars, house, mansions) and non-materialistic goals (name, fame etc..), because someone else has it. If we only get happy by having things that others don’t have, it is not truly happiness, but a sign of sickness.

Be joyful!!
